Saving Myself for Steve Martin
After 13 years of marriage, Eve has just become a single Mom. She’d like to date. Heck, she’d like to get laid! But hasn’t a clue how. Divorced, forty-five, and facing an uncertain future, Eve attends her first SWASS (Single Women Actively Seeking Sex) meeting that meets monthly, where she shares her latest adventure. But, what does she really want? Sex? Or love?
How hard can it be for a divorced woman to get laid by a guy that's not a schmuck? It turns out not so easy. Will our hero get lucky? Or will she have to save herself for Steve Martin?
“There are several passages that showcase playwright Wixon’s writing skill. Eve’s account of Christmas with her first husband is endearing, and a romantic scene gone wrong, near the end of the play, is genuinely funny.
…the Baltimore Playwrights Festival isn’t just a showcase for polished work, it’s also a forum to identify talent…the script contains some sharp writing and character development, and that’s a promising start.”
